Louisiana Electronic Event Registration System
(LEERS)

All resident and fellow physicians are required to register for the Louisiana Electronic Event Registration System (LEERS).

WHAT is LEERS?  It’s Louisiana’s web-based system for registering vital events such as births and deaths electronically through the Office of Public Health, Vital Records Registry.  Its main purpose is to allow authorized users (such as physicians, hospitals, funeral homes, clerks of court, and other designated officials) to securely report and manage life events in real time.

If you have not yet done so, please take the steps necessary to submit your completed application to LEERS Electronic Death Registration.
WHY is LEERS registration important for Resident/Fellow Physicians?

  • Offers a fast, paperless workflow for death certification
  • Greater accuracy through automated validation
  • Faster processing---families get certified documents more quickly
  • Better collaboration with funeral directors and registrars
  • Ease of use and straightforward sign-up
