There's a new addition to our campus!

As you walk through the hallway connecting Parking Garage 1 to the Atrium, you'll notice some new additions adorning the walls. These are interpretive panels showcasing the rich history of Mid-City, the vibrant neighborhood surrounding University Medical Center New Orleans.

The installation of these panels is a result of a collaborative effort with the State of Louisiana that fulfills the requirements of a Public Interpretation Plan outlined in the agreement to fund University Medical Center and the Veteran's Administration Medical Center.

The interior panels and exterior displays delve into the stories of the community surrounding the medical centers, including  the neighborhood's past and architectural heritage, day to day life in Mid-City in the 19th and early 20th centuries, health and hygiene through the turn of the 20th Century, education in Mid-City, and the legacy of Charity Hospital.

Each panel includes artifacts that show the fascinating history of the neighborhood.

These informative panels, designed to be museum-quality and permanently accessible, offer a glimpse into the vibrant tapestry of Mid-City's past. We invite you to take a moment and explore these insightful displays. They serve as a reminder of the rich history that surrounds us and the importance of preserving our cultural heritage.
